We pride ourselves in the craftmanship that we have when building decks, but good craftmanship requires good materials. In order to make your deck last, we use the finest in lumber and woods. Some of the materials that we use are described below.

NATURAL WOOD

Iron Wood
This wood is gorgeous. It is 100% clear premium grade with no knots!! It has deep, rich color tones that make it ideal for the discriminating consumer. The wood is maintenance free and requires NO coating or treatments to maintain its strength or structural integrity. A clear oil finish can be applied to maintain the natural color, if desired. Ironwood has a 25 year warrantee and is considered the "Outdoor Hardwood Floor."

Western Red Cedar (Knotty)
Cedar is a beautiful wood that maintains a subtle aromatic fragrance that adds to its rich color palette. It is an ideal choice for decking due to its natural ability to resist insect attack and decay. It is also a dimensionally stable wood that lies flat and stays straight. Properly finished and maintained, Cedar ages gracefully and endures for many years. Cedar is a preferred material for outdoor applications that seek visual harmony with the landscape.

Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine
ACQ pressure treated Pine decking is the most popular material used for residential decks. Its popularity is no accident. Treated Southern Yellow Pine is proven to last for decades against insects and decay. In fact, it has a lifetime warranty. Our #1 grade has very few knots and is a beautiful finish to any outdoor project. Left unstained, Pine will naturally fade and eventually turn a pleasing light gray. Stains can easily be applied to create a warm color palette of choice.

As of December 31, 2003 DeckWright will no longer use the wood preservative CCA (Chromium Copper Arsenate) for residential construction. Today there is a major improvement in wood preserving technology. It responds to a growing market demand for a less toxic, more environmentally acceptable preservative for wood. New ACQ Preserve pressure-treated wood contains no EPA listed hazardous compounds like arsenic or chromium. And, it's guaranteed to protect against rot, decay and termite attack for many years.

COMPOSITE LUMBER

Trex
Trex decking is the original maintenance free composite decking product. Made from reclaimed hardwood sawdust and reclaimed /recycled plastic, it has a proven track record for beauty and durability. There is never a need to worry about sealing, staining or replacing damaged boards in order to maintain the product. Trex has the longevity of concrete with the feel and warmth of wood. It can be stained and painted to achieve that desired custom "look." Trex decking is available in 5 different colors, and is guaranteed for 10 years against splintering, rot, decay and termite damage.

Evergrain
Evergrain is an ideal product for maintenance free decking. It has a deep wood grain that creates a "real" wood appearance. Evergrain is manufactured using recycled materials to create a beautiful and long lasting deck. The product is warranted against splintering, cracking, rotting and termite damage and is backed by a ten year warrantee. The four available colors will weather to a slightly lighter shade while maintaining its original color.

Weather Best
WeatherBest composite decking has the look and feel of natural wood with its unique wood grain texture. It too is resistant to rot, decay splintering and termites and is backed by a 10 year warranty. No staining or sealing is ever required. WeatherBest is available in a wide selection of colors and styles to fit every design need and budget. The premium line of colors fade only slightly over time, maintaining the rich tones for many years.
